An "aglet" is a cap or small sheath on the end to keep it from unraveling. I didn't know these had them, but it is a bonus. The same thing that shoelaces have but these are metal.

Purchased these for my sweatpants. I kept breaking the strings and then I would lose them. These are good but at their limit for length for someone who wears a 42 pants. These work well as replacement drawstrings. They are very long so you may have to cut them down to size by removing the metal tip, cutting it to length, then placing the metal tip back on. They fray easily so try not to over manipulate them when rethreaded them. Have a plastic threader tool helps immensely.
