OK if you have a lot to do, but not if you have just the two ends. For soldering you need a narrow propane gas flame and something to hold the lug in (bench vice?). Be careful not to spoil the insulation. There are a few useful clips on Youtube. Good luck. **Q: Whats the max volts for 16mm** A: The voltage rating depends on the insulation, not the conductor area. This type is usually rated around 100V, tested to 1kV, but could well be more. The Chinese stuff doesn't usually have a clear rating. **Q: Is this cable 100% copper, it coated aluminium?** A: copper ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed *by G***F on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 March 2014* Needed both black and red cable to connect up a 1kW 12V DC to 240V AC inverter.This is to carry up to 100A DC, for supply and return to the inverter.To save any confusion, the cross section of the copper conductor is 16 square mm, not 16mm as indicated. The copper core, of many fine strands (each about 0.29mm diameter), is a bit under 5mm diameter and the outer insulation is about 8.5mm diameter.First ordered 2m each of red and black (which came as 2m lengths), but with the small battery used found this caused a bit to much voltage drop, so then ordered a 1m length of each (not yet used), as I may well need the 2m lengths later.At about 800W of output, at 240V AC, (with about 80A DC) this cable got noticeably warm.With the 2m cables I also ordered "10 Copper Tube 16Mm X 8Mm Lug Crimp Terminal Rings" from the same company. Not having a suitable crimping tool I had to solder these on, using a small blow torch. For the second time I have since ordered what I hope will be a suitable crimping tool.
