The adhesion of these island dressings is fantastic without being difficult to remove and no stickiness remains on the skin. That being said my husband does not enjoy having the dressing removed as it does stick so well but it has not caused any rashes or impairment of skin integrity due to how well it sticks. We have tried many different tapes over the foam and aquacell that he needs to cover his ulcer but none will hold under the prosthetic. I do remove the "island" part of this dressing as it is not absorbent and he needed to have drainage contained and not sitting on the skin. It takes a bit of hand strength to remove the "island" telfa but it is possible. (If the telfa part were not removed there would be too much bulk and unnecessary pressure would be present on an already impaired spot.) I have looked for a similar dressing with the type of foam or aquacell that works but have not found anything so removing the telfa works just fine.
