Ideal for professionals seeking a blend of robust performance and subtle design in door hardware. ## Description 1 x 500mm Passivated Steel Adjustable Friction Door Restrictor High quality concealed uPVC door restrictor is designed to provide adjustable resistance to uPVC, french or double doors, and is designed to stay open in any position by means of an adjustable friction pad. It limits the door movement (90° with the 335mm or 135° with the 500mm), which stops the door hitting sill end caps off etc. Designed to sit in the eurogroove, commonly found on most major uPVC doors. The hard-wearing, hold-open function, with it's stainless steel arrow head, engages in a carbon steel plated holding spring - providing a more positive hold. Features an adjustable 'friction pad' which is easily adjusted with a pozi screwdriver, by turning clockwise for 'greater' or counter-clockwise for 'lesser' friction/hold. Restrictors limit door opening to a preset position or to maximum of 90° (335mm) or 135° (500mm) depending on where the frame/sash part is fixed. It stops the door hitting sill end caps, opening too far & straining the hinges. Is it adjustable?** A: Hi not sure what you mean by short enough for a small dog. It will hold the door open to whatever angle you set. It clicks in place and it stands up to a reasonably strong wind. I wouldn't open the door and leave it on this catch in a gale force wind though. All in all easy to fit and works well. **Q: will this hold a p v c frount door?** A: Hi, It is designed for UPVC doors with a Euro Groove. **Q: How do you release the hold open mechanism? Scratching my head but it’s so secure and I don’t want to force and break something.** A: The hold open is a simple wedge shaped metal rod end that clips into a couple of spring wings in the closer. To close the door, simply close it a usual and the wedge will pop out of the sprig retainer. Unless it is fitted wrong you won't damage it.. Mine work fine. **Q: Can these be fitted to R7 upvc french doors?** A: I have no idea what an R7 French door is, but they worked on my French doors. They are kept open when I need them to be. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective door restrictor and stay - Instructions in my photos *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 25 June 2022* I have Anglian patio doors which can open past 90 degrees so I purchased 1 of the '1 x 500mm Passivated Steel Restrictor Door Stay with Adjustable Friction pad - Holds Open at 135°' - to see if it fitted. I ordered the second one once I had fitted the first successfully. The first one didn't come with instructions so I winged it as it was only a matter of ensuring there is enough travel to open and close the door. When the second one came it had instructions with it and a handy piece of information I could have done with for the first one was to lock the stay in place before fitting as this give you the end of the range at one end.The stay pops into the Euro groove which all modern doors have I believe, my photos will show you how it sits. The stay itself is sturdy and providing you fit it correctly, at the fully open position a pin in the stay pops into a retaining clip, a tug on the door pops it out and the door will close. There is a tension screw (see the photos) which is the restrictor and stops the door from swinging, you can adjust this to how stiff you want the doors. Since fitting, we've had a few windy days and only the stiffest of gusts have blown the door out of the retainer, the door then didn't slam as it would have before fitting the stay as the restrictor made sure there was enough resistance.Rather than use the screws provided I used these, excellent self tappers - 'uPVC Self Tapping Screws - 3.9mm X 32mm - 25 Pack' Some have said that the supplied screws are too long but as you'll see in my photo there isn't a lot of difference between the two (gold colour is the supplied screws).I should have bought these years ago, they are easy to fit and are doing the job of restricting the door opening and preventing door slamming. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product, but no instructions?! *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 1 July 2026* This worked well for our new French doors, I wanted a way to keep them swinging around in the wind without using hooks fixed to the frame.They were very easy to fit, but only AFTER I'd found that another customer who WAS lucky enough to receive instructions, had shared them in their product review to help others (thank you!)It's not windy so I can't comment on how effective they are in adverse weather, but it seems sturdy enough and just needs a firm pull to close the doors.They seem to be great value for money, and are actually very simple so I can't imagine them failing any time soon.Could've been a five star review, but not including instructions is a bit lazy and careless. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Value for money and works well *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 3 July 2025* Work perfectly well.
