For spot treatment it says 2-3fl. oz. in 1 gallon of final volume of spray solution. Add a 1/2 gallon of water to your spray tank, for annual grasses up to 6" add 2fl. oz. of concentrate then top it up to a gallon with water. For annual grass up to 12" and perennial grass, add 3fl. oz. of concentrate to 1/2 gallon of water in your sprayer then top it off to a gallon with water. Keep agitating the solution during use. **Q: Is this safe on centipede grass?** A: This is safe for Centipede. I use it twice a year to kill off Torpedo grass in Louisiana. I use 2.5 oz to 1 gallon of water in a cheap pump sprayer. I learned to spray it after it rains but no additional rain in the forecast when the grass/weeds are actively growing. I spray it in the evening when it is cool since it’s all 90 plus here in New Orleans. This stuff works great! **Q: Is it absorbed by the grass leaves only or also by the roots?** A: It's a product to make a spray to be used on the leaves of grass like you would use the Ortho ready to use product Grass-B-Gon which costs about $6 for a 24 oz spray bottle. ($24 for 3 at Amazon) The Ortho product would be better to purchase from ace hardware if you only have need for only a single limited use. This concentrated product could be used to mix with water and fill a gallon sprayer (4 oz gal) a couple of times or refill the 24 oz spray container about a dozen times. The Ortho Grass-B-Gon product says not to cut the grass before using to allow it to get to the roots. It is absorbed into the roots from spraying on the leaves and it's effectiveness used on just the soil would be at a minimum greatly decreased if it worked at all. It's a great product for when grasses are mixed in with shrubs in your garden and you can just spray the grasses and a few weeks later they are yellow and dead. Many grasses have underground root systems and merely pulling the exposed grass does not eliminate the grasses from your garden This product can be used on some of an invasive grass taking over your garden and kill them from the root by spreading throughout the root system **Q: Can you use on raspberry bed** A: Per the manufacturer it shouldn't hurt desirable plants ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use. *by B***. on January 8, 2025* Simple to mix in sprayer and works for specific areas. Great stuff. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well if used properly *by J***R on July 9, 2013* I always download the PDF version of the product labels, because I don't own a microscope to read the printed label. I went over the label and it was unclear to "use" or to "not use" a surfactant, so I played it safe and used it with "Bonide 097 Turbo Spreader Sticker" (one 8oz bottle will last me many seasons). The label also hid the mixing rate pretty well, but I managed to find "2 ounces per gallon of water" buried within. So with that mix ratio and the surfactant, I sprayed my grass-infested wildflower gardens. 2 weeks later the wildflowers are thriving and the grass was dead. The dead grass is a reddish-brown, and this will soon be hidden by the wildflowers. It had absolutely no damaging effect on the flowers, and (sadly) no damaging effect on a few areas populated by the evil Yellow Nutsedge. Overall I am very satisfied and will use this product again. The label is unclear if it is allowed to be used with sweet corn, so I did not try. Please leave a comment if you have used it with corn and relay your story. ### ⭐ Product does not have advertised feature *by M***M on July 8, 2012* The product description on amazon.com promised a version of sethoxydim grass killer which does not require an additive. But the product shipped very clearly does require an additive, it says so on the label on the bottle. They list on the label various additives which can be used, such as methylated seed oil. The additive is to help the product stick to what it is sprayed on. Now, for a sethoxydim grass killer to be labelled as requiring an additive like this is not unusual at all. But the product description specifically says an additive is *not* required, and this is misleading. What is worse is that both Bonide (manufacturer) and the seller simply refuse to acknowledge that I have in hand a Bonide Grass Beater bottle which has a label saying an additive is required. One other reviewer has already noted this same issue, that the product was advertised as not requiring an additive but the label says it does. I am just so frustrated with the runaround I have gotten from both Bonide and the seller that I am giving the product only 1 star.
