Even if flock is free range & finding grit in the yard, we recommend supplementing their feed with grit to avoid digestive issues that are common without grit. Offer your chickens a grit free-choice in a separate container. Grit is bascailly rocks & chickens will self-regulate what they eat. We offer 2 types of grit: Layer & Grower Grit (8+ week) & Starter Chick (0-8 week) Grit Ingredients Grit is rocks with nothing added. Specifically, 100% natural quartzite. Quartzite is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock which was originally pure quartz sandstone. Sandstone is converted into quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression within orogenic belts. |||||||||| Grit is to be set out at all times for chickens. Review: very good little baby rocks - Chickens need grit for their digestion. Girt is just little baby rocks. The little rocks go in their gizzards and help mash up their food. These are very nice little rocks of all different sizes and textures. Why pay for little rocks? Cause I live in sand and there are no little rocks anywhere nearby. So if you need little baby rocks, these do the job of being rocks very well.

Chickens need grit for their digestion. Girt is just little baby rocks. The little rocks go in their gizzards and help mash up their food. These are very nice little rocks of all different sizes and textures. Why pay for little rocks? Cause I live in sand and there are no little rocks anywhere nearby. So if you need little baby rocks, these do the job of being rocks very well.
