This was the one recommended by our violin teacher ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value book that takes students from absolute basics of reading music to a grade 1 standard. Colourful, clear but babyish *by K***S on 9 September 2014* I got several copies for my piano pupils as I was looking for a book that had grade 1 standard questions but was accessible. My pupils are aged between 7 and 11 and I reckon it would suit 6 up to secondary school. Colourful but not babyish pages, it's well structured and on A4 sized paper. Very good value for money as it covers all grade 1 material, which covers duration and semiquavers, writing on a stave, dotted notes, ties, slurs, basic scales, degrees of the scale, Italian terms, and also has grade 1 standard test papers in the back. I am using this as revision and homework to round up what is learnt.
