Warm water is used to remove the color. Please use ICE cold water, with ice cubes to activate the color feature. **Q: How heavy is the base? Does it stay upright when doing the hair?** A: It's not heavy and it does stay upright but stay away from this toy if your child actually wants the makeup function to work. The whole reason I purchased it was for the color changing makeup. Doesn't even attempt to change color no matter how cold the water is. We even tried an ice cube. Ridiculous. It was used not new or like new. Don’t waste your time on buying used because it looks like a deal like I said you get what you pay for.
