In both cases, the stoves looked great, and the paste is simple to apply....reminded me of shoe polish. It's much easier (and no fumes) than the high heat paints I used previously. The chimenea lasted a few months before the rust spots started to show through, but I was impressed it lasted that long. Be aware that this has a very dull matte black finish, no shine at all. As far as scratch coverage, I guess it covered them, but my cast iron pieces had a rough finish so I didn't really notice. I am happy with the results, and the price was right. It was very easy to use; just wipe it on with a damp cloth, wait for it to dry, then polish with a dry rag. Use a toothbrush to get into the intricate details. And wear gloves because it is messy, but actually cleans up very easily. Many other polishes we investigated need the cast iron to be heated up to ‘set’ it, but since this fireplace will never be used we needed to find a product that would look good without that.
