I know that the incandescent types that use D batteries use more of a standard type of blub, but the smaller, AA and AAA size flashlights usually use a special type of bulb that has 2 leads, or wires that come out of the bulb, and those slide down into slots in the base of where the bulb goes. This flashlight is different though. This one is an LED type. LED type ones, you can not replace the bulb easily. Unless you are good with a soldering iron/gun, that is the only way to replace an LED version. They are like this because regular incandescent bulbs only last into the 10's of hours. I think it was something like 40 hours, but was definitely double digits. While the LED version is good for into the tens of thousands of hours, so you will probably never need to change the LED ever. and by the time you do, they will have new, better, more efficient versions out by then, so you would be better off just buying a new one. **Q: What is the lumen rating on this 3 AA light?** A: Its a 2 Aa light.
