Review: Not a genuine Cummins filter, not suitable for L9 engines - These look like genuine Fleetguard filters, but they're not. Not knowing what the problem was, they failed us 3 times in a Cummins L9 engine after driving about 300-400 miles. The first time resulted in t fixed power with an ECM error code indicating high fuel pressure. Cummins said that it was caused by algae in the fuel and put on a Fleetguard filter. Once home, I added a biocide to the fuel and changed the filter to the 2nd one if these knockoffs. We took another RV trip and we were stopped by a pickup truck who saw liquid pouring out the back of our motorhome. That liquid turned out to be diesel and it was pouring out at about 1/2 gallon/minute or more. The source of the leak was this fuel filter with a crack under the threaded section on top. We must have lost at least 25 gallons of fuel. Carrying these extra filters, I replaced it. On the way home, immediately after refueling at a QT in Conroe, TX, the engine died in the middle of an intersection. The generator had no problems running. We needed to get towed to a closed RV service center. Fuel was leaking from the fuel filter, again. I replaced the filter and we were able to drive home without problems. We we got home, I ordered genuine Fleetguard fuel filters and discarded all of the MIC knockoffs. Since then we have driven over 3,000 miles on the genuine filters without any engine problems, period! These filters do not work on a Cummins L9 engine. Your engine probably costs north of $60,000. It deserves genuine, made-in-America filters. Three of these failed on us. Yes, they were properly torqued on. They're not worth the cost savings.
