No instructions with product?** A: You can find the wiring diagrams from Google images or similar, but be aware that the wire colours may differ from cable to cable. The wires are mostly grouped into 3's; a +ve, -ve and a guard or screen wire. This will help you when you compare against the wiring diagram. Assuming you have one good end and the faulty connector has been snipped off, you can use a multi-meter or continuity tester to connect a thin gauge wire in each of the pin positions in the good connector and test against each each of the wires at the snipped end. You will hopefully begin to see the pattern of the wire groupings which will help, for example one of the wires was Orange and the other insulated wire in the group was Orange and White stripe;the guard/screen wire being uninsulated in my case. Having found the corresponding wire you can mark-up the wiring diagram with the wire colour for that pin position in the connector. When this has been done for each of the wires you can then fit each of the wires in the guide holes that are positioned over the connector blades. This was a very fiddly process for me, especially as the guard/screen wires weren't insulated and care had to be taken that they didn't touch - I couldn't assume they all went to the same ground. Unfortunately I didn't have any sleeving for these. Once the wires are positioned and before snapping the connector closed, if you can, recheck that the pin-outs of the two connectors match using the multi-meter/continuity tester. To close the connector I used pliers, but take care that each of the wires aligns properly with the blades. The holes in the retainers/guides are large compared with the wires and it easy for one or two of the wires to move and miss the blades. I suggest two final checks; one using the multi-meter and continuity tester and a second with a HDMI Cable Tester, eg LogiLink WZ0017 LogiLink WZ0017 HDMI Cable Tester. Even though the continuity tests may be OK I found that high resistance faults impaired the performance of the new connection showing up as errors when using the HDMI cable tester.
