It probably varies body type to body type, but my strap is nice and snug with the scabbard in the buckles and doesn't slide out. Keeps the sword in place firmly on my back, and I don't really have that bacon effect that another poster had in the reviews. It's primarily built for specific crafts of this sword. The one I purchased was from Empty Closet Bargains. The material doesn't FEEL like real leather, but it doesn't look cheap in the least. Love the strap and works perfectly for what I need it for. Just be careful before purchasing. If you're looking to purchase this with a sword, purchase the belt strap first and do the research to find the replicas that fit this strap the best. Let me start off by saying that this is a good quality belt especially for its price. I bought this after buying my master sword from here (the one from top swords). It fits nicely into the slots. It takes a little adjusting but it works. The top straps where the sword is thicker fits on the last snaps and the bottom part needs to be kind of forced and stretched but fits on the first snaps. I also had to punch a hole in it to fit me and there's a long part of the belt sticking out but if you have this problem you can always just tuck it in or cut it off. I'm a pretty small girl and if I were any smaller I think that punching a hole won't work because the slots for the sword might end up on your chest. The top one is at the very edge of my shoulder so I don't think I'd recommend this for a small child.What I wish was different about this belt is the shoulder part of this belt. If the shoulder part was flat and rested nicely on your shoulder I think that the belt would work a little better in my opinion. Also, it bunches up in the back sometimes. I think if it were a little thicker that wouldn't be a problem. You just have to make sure it's on right. These aren't big issues though. I got what I expected and I'm happy with it. I haven't tried to hang the shield on it which was what I was actually planning on doing but honestly, I don't think it will work. If I do happen to try it I'll update this review.
