Maybe no super accurate, but good enough for most purposes. The twin pack was useful one for indoors and one for outdoors. The indicator works directly from the conductivity of the soil and requires no batteries. The moving coil indicator is simple to read and fairly robust, but like all moving coil instruments if can be damaged fairly easily if dropped or abused.
