The whole thing weighs around 200 grams so it is light to hold comfortably yet it feels solid. The T shaped base is widened which helps it keep it steady against the edge of whatever it is you need to draw lines on or cut and is good for accuracy. The engraved scale is clear and easy to read and so far after a few uses it doesn't feel like it will start to wear off. For general woodwork, furniture or DIY work it hits the mark nicely and I would recommend this square.
