Nyko Kick Stand - Replacement Kickstand with Built-In SD Card Storage for Nintendo Switch

First off, it’s a metal kickstand for the Switch, it’s fairly cheap, and it works.Now onto a few issues that may or may not be a big deal to most people buying this. My first issue is that it doesn’t lock open like the stock Switch stand does. There is no audible click when it’s ready for stand position and if you even slightly push it further open it will disconnect from the Switch. This is a minor issue really because if you just stop once you hit resistance it holds well.The second and third issue deal with the little card hold on the stand. I don’t know why people will need a back up memory card and so I personally don’t see the point I adding a bulge to the stand to accommodate this feature. Now maybe there are people out there that will need to have more than one card or maybe they share a device and keep their own cards but I don’t need a second card so it seems like an odd addition.With that feature it also adds a noticeable bulge to the stand. Since I use a case on my Switch the bulge actually sits flat wth my case and helps to keep my shell case aligned correctly but if you don’t have a case on your Switch, then this stand won’t allow it to sit flatly on its back anymore. If I didn’t have a case then it would bother me and I probably wouldn’t have bought it so this is more reasoning that the card carrying feature was not only unnecessary but possibly troublesome for some users.Besides those issues the stand is not bad. I like that it’s metal and should be a bit more resilient than the plastic stand. I also really like that unlike my plastic kick stand, this metal one actually stays clipped to my device which is why despite the issues, this still gets a 4 star rating from me.It looks nice, it works, it’s affordable, and despite any issues I may have with it; I still think it’s a good purchase and can recommend it if you understand what you’re getting here.

As expected, it is strong and does not flex like the original kickstand. It is also heavier than I thought it would be (I think it is stainless steel). Only complaint is that it is slightly longer at the top near the pivot location and therefore when you pull out the kick stand it does not pull out all the way and click like the original stand (there is a piece of plastic in the kick stand cavity that the original kick stand would snap under to hold the kick stand out all the way) You can still pull it out that far and set the Switch down and it will stay and be usable. But once you move the switch, the kickstand will move back in towards the switch about 30%. It is still usable at that location too. If I can find a way to mod the kickstand and remove about 1mm from the top, I will do that so that it can snap.

Perfect? No. Worth it? For $5, yes!On my Switch, it snaps in nicely when closing it, but doesn't click and stay open perfect when extending it. However, it still stays open better than the one it comes with. The storage of an extra MicroSD card if very nice, but I haven't used that yet. I also think it looks pretty cool on the back of the Switch.Just a note to help everyone out: Since you can store an extra MicroSD card in the stand, you would likely be switching cards once in a while. Please make sure to shut your Switch down completely - not just sleep mode - or you risk damaging the data on your MicroSD card.

Installed fine no issues with it coming out or morphing my switch. Think other reviewers may not have installed correctly. Does what it is supposed to do. I am actually not a huge fan of the little bulge on the side noticed that made some of my aftermarket docks a little tight when putting in and getting out. Would have rather just had a flush stand back but the ability to store another micro sd card is cool. All and all not a bad addition to my switch. I have really enjoyed modding this thing (currently rocking out white joycons with a D-Pad on the left).

This adds a little width to the console it doesn't fit as easily into additional docks. It can still fit into the OG Switch dock but it's might tighter. I'm using this over my original kickstand because it was broken since day 1 when I opened the box. This one will at least close completely when I'm using it and not flop over. It's good for the price but disappointed on the size of it limiting where it can be plugged in without having to remove it.

The kick stand does what it supposed to do and does everything it advertise to do.With the Nyko kickstand the switch still fits in the original Dock as well as any aftermarket dock, and it still fits in my carrying case.Yes the Nyko kickstand didn't want to sit flush with in the grove where the kickstand fits in, but the original kickstand never closed completely ether.Yes the Nyko Kickstand will pop off if you push it too far, so will the flimsy Nintendo made kickstand. Nintendo made the kickstand to do that to avoid breaking the console.To those who are complaining why the Nylo kickstand can hold a SD card. Why buy it in the first place, its an advertised feature.

I love pretty much everything about it and don't see what people are having issues with. The kickstand works fine, sure it doesn't click and you have to put a split second of effort to get it to lean back all the way but that's not really something to complain about.Products also have to be delayed sometimes to make sure the quality is good, which it is, so knocking stars off for a $5 product makes no sense.Sure it feels a little different when holding it in handheld mode now, but it's not bad.All in all, it's worth the money if you actually install it properly.

This was ordered as a replacement to the original.. I like the SD card slot (we don't actually use it) but it's neat. I wish they had a black on that would have matched our switch though... At the time I ordered this was the only color available.

Really happy with this purchase. Simple and easy "Mod" you can do to your switch, and it definitely adds some style.Easy to install, as you just remove the old stand by pulling on it (not too hard) and installing this one side at a time till it clicks in place.Only real issue I had with it, explaining why I gave it a 4, is surprising due to the box I got it in. Though the actual delivery package wasn't harmed or damaged, the inside box containing this item was somewhat squished or roughened up.Took me a while to even get this item out of its original packaging, and I wanted to highlight this because, it took me a good 7-10 mins trying to slide it out, which kinda left some scuffs on the top right corner. It isn't a big deal, but it made mine feel like it was either used and returned. Just wanted to point it out.Aside from that, the stand itself works 100 times better than the old kickstand. Just to address some concerns others have out there:-yes it does make a difference and it is not flimsy, as long as you pull out the kick stand further enough you here a little "click". Once you hear that, then you know it is secure, and will hold the device up.-and regarding whether or not it is effective on other softer surfaces: no it will not work on these, and I did not expect it too. Some people I know who also have a switch have asked whether it works on surfaces like the bed/mattress. Physically even with how much sturdier this stand is to the stock stand, it won't make a difference on your pillow or bed, because of the placement of the stand itself. Softer surfaces aren't flat, making it nearly impossible to be effective for the stand in regards to its placement. So if you are one of those individuals looking to play on your bed (which I do not see why, as you can either have it docked or in handheld mode) I have seen another alternative for you which is a case you can apply on your switch that has two stands built in the back.I was just blown away with the quality and price of this thing, that I may look to buy another one in the near future if other colors are released/to replace this one I currently have (though the scuff isn't even that serious). Plus, this stand doubles as a microSD card holder (as you can fit one extra microSD within the inside of the stand).

My issue is more with the Switch design, than this kickstand, as it doesn't click in place and stay in properly. I got this stand to replace the stand that came with the switch, but didn't fix my issue of the stand popping out all the time.

A decent replacement if you've lost your kickstand, but it doesn't remain snapped in place as strongly as I would like.

Al ser de metal y estar tocando con plástico, daña un pequeño espacio de plástico en la consola que sirve para atorar la patita original, después de usar ésta muy pocas veces y volver a poner la original, ya no se atora como antes, TACHE aquí.2. El espacio para la tarjeta micro SD es demasiado justo, y además te dan una pequeña etiqueta para pegarla en ese espacio (para mostrar donde va la tarjeta). Lo único que se logra es que el espacio quede aún más justo, y es muy difícil sacar la tarjeta del lugar, además de que se raya la tarjeta.La tuve que devolver.
