Good storyline. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A FORBIDDEN TALE OF LOVE, MAGIC AND CURSES *by 1***1 on 28 May 2026* If you have loved the "Caraval" series and wants to explore the similar themes of magic, enchantment and curses and similar world building, the Once Upon a Broken Heart Series should be your next read. In the previous series, you would've come across Jacks, also known as the Prince of Hearts and he is the central character of the series. Evangeline Fox, the female lead, is a naive girl who runs on hope and her mother's fairytale stories and years for true love. In the path of achieving that, she makes a deal with Jacks and the rest of the story is the consequences of the deal with deeper plots and more world building. The first half of the book was definitely boring for me because it was all about world building, laying the foundation of the book and characters. It progresses slowly and I wanted to get the done with the book as soon as possible but when I cross that first half and the plots slowly start to align, it gets interesting and then it's hard to put down. Don't expect a very smart, independence type of female lead. The primary reason to continue this book was the plot and the way it slowly unfolds, curses and prophecies and a good ending for the second book.
