A: The wire may be to thin as it's a large connector.  Suggest you try a lower amp one i.e. 5 amp

A: I would buy a new HDMI cable, or use a soldering iron, and solder, and wrap with insulating tape.

**Q: My pond pump runs off the mains. Is this the right product from me. The current broken connector only has three inlets, can you cut yours down?**
A: Yes you can cut the strip into shorter lengths.  I like to put the earth wire in the middle between live & neutral, as an extra safety precaution.    The connector strip will need to be in a weatherproof box if it is outside.
