Review: Great Knife - I go camping and I wanted a small utility that would be useful out there but also small enough to keep in my pocket when I want to have it with me back in the city (so that ruled out a 7" fixed blade). I was recommended Gerber by a friend who is very into knives and I saw this one and decided to go with it. I got it and it's a fantastic knife. Folds up pretty small and the clip is really handy. The knife itself is great - it came sharpened, and it was SHARP!!! I could lay the edge on a tomato and the knife would fall into the tomato under it's own weight (this is the fine edge portion too - not the serrated portion!). The knife is comfortable to hold and the design looks great. You can open it a few ways. When closed, a little nub sticks out the back side of the knife and if you "flip" the knife while putting pressure on this nub with your index finger (you would be putting pressure toward the bottom of the hilt), you can flip the knife open. Another way is with your thumb pressing the peg on the side of the knife (pegs are on both sides so you can do it with your right or left hand). The other was is just pulling it open with your other hand. To close it you need to push over a piece of metal that is bent. It is bent so it sits behind the blade locking it open. You must push it so that the metal is flat against the inside of the handle, allowing the blade to rotate closed. All in all it's a great little knife and I liked it so much I bought a second Gerber knife!
Review: Affordable pocket knife - At its price point it is light weight, durable, well-made, and has a reasonably decent blade. Great price in the combo pack with the smaller Evo Jr. Easy opening with a single lock (would be even better with a CRKT double lock system) mechanism. Reasonably sharp from the factory with the combo edge cuts rope, tarp, etc. with ease. I purchased the Evo to compare to the CRKT knives of the same type that I already own (M16 EDC and M21 SFG). In around the same price range it is a good alternative, though the blade material is slightly different between the two companies. Finally, given how affordable these are, if one does 'break' a new one won't break the bank.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How longis knife ?inches wise**
A: "Compact for PortabilityThe EVO Jr. has an overall length of 6.35 inches with a blade length of 2.75 inches and weighs just 1.8 ounces, so it's easy to toss it in a bag, backpack, or pocket."As described in the product info.

**Q: The blade on the knife I received is impossible to deploy with one hand, even after oiling it. How can I loosen it so the flipper works?**
A: Mine got easier to flip open the more I did it. Opened it by pulling the flipper with index finger and at the same time flicked my wrist in the same direction/motion of the blade, along with gravity's help. Recently, I got it wet in sea water which made it hard to open with one hand, but rinsing it with clean water reverted it back to the way it was.

**Q: Has anyone compare the "evo titanium-coated fine edge knife" with the "evo jr. fine edge knife" for the length of the blade? which one is smaller?**
A: EVO, Ti-Coated: Blade Length: 3.43"EVO Jr. - Fine Edge: Blade Length: 2.75"

**Q: can you open this evo tanto with your index finger....ie: stud on top of blade to open it?**
A: Yeah with a little flick of the wrist. As far as the thumb stud on the side goes don't bother trying to open it with that.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally A Solid Sailor's Knife!
*by M***E on August 15, 2007*

So I've been checking out a bunch of these knives at the local sporting good stores so I can take sailing. I'm looking for a folding knife that I can open with one hand. Most of them were either ugly or the blade can be twisted out too easily (sometimes all it takes is a hard shake and the blade comes out). When I tried this knife I realized this is the knife for me. It felt sturdy, strong, easy to open with one hand but not easy to shake the blade out and a good price. My only 2 gripes are: there's no socket for me to hang this around my neck without having the rope touch the blade and it doesn't come with a sleeve. Can't have it all!
