It is not difficult to replace the fan unit because it only sits (and not fixed) on the base of the fan well. The fan well is located to the right of the transducer. The transducer and the fan unit are connected by a socket and spigot cable connector. To remove and replace the fan unit, proceed as follows: 1. Remove the artificial fuel bed 2. Remove the water tank 3. Remove the sump 4. Disconnect the transducer lead from the fan unit lead. (spigot and socket) 5. Remove the fan well lid by undoing the two small holding-down screws 6. Disconnect the two clip power cables connecting the power source to the fan power cables 7. You can now remove the fan. Replace the fan and proceed by reversing the above operations. **Q: Why is this fan about 10 times more expensive than similar slightly smaller fans?** A: Because it is a rip off.
