Works very well grinding to a fine powder that, dependant on the strength of your chilli's, gives a fiery kick. BUT, the chilli MUST be VERY DRY!! Cannot stress this enough. A lot of "dried" chills have a soft moist finish to them and are great for adding to dishes whilst cooking but if used in this mill will just mash and clog it up. I bought Ugandan Birds Eye chills through spicesontheweb.co.uk Great chills full of heat and flavour and moist with the natural chilli oil. Great but too moist so I spread them on a baking sheet and gently dried them in a very low oven for 40 mins then left them in the oven with just the fan running with no heat for a further 1.5 hours. When cooled they work fantastically well. Review: Adds the kick any chilli lover wants - I bought this as a present for my husband along with some dried Chilli pods and he loves it. It works really well with the small pods I bought and looks great. It cuts rather than grinds but they are still fine enough and definitely add a kick to any dish. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Looks Good *by D***D on 10 November 2013* Good quality mill fitting with a novel look handle that surprisingly feels good to hold. Some reviews had said it didn't work and I can understand that if you expect it to take whole dried chillies and ground them like a pepper or salt mill then you will be disappointed. The lack of weight of dried chillies and if whole the size, makes them awkward to feed from the handle into the mill itself. I have used whole home grown dried chillies and crushed chillies and once they have been shaken into the mill the grinding works well - however it doesn't look much at first as the mill grinds very fine and is more a way of getting chilli powder fresh for a dish than to sprinkle over as a condiment.
