Big difference. Without long explanation this works basically like a standard scope as opposed to the reflecting light of a red dot. This also means you get an etched reticle that works fine without illumination.. still gives perfect black reticle with dead batteries. I have their older model and it solved my astigmatism problem with red dots. **Q: What kind of batteries dose it take?** A: Well uh, as it states on Amazon in the description....cr2032. **Q: What would be the best fit riser to get for this optic?** A: It would depend on the person and weapon it's being put on. I got a low Mount riser the my AR but that was for the way I shoot.
