Review: Affordable Black (linear) switches for modding or building keyboards - Got these to swap out the noisy Blue switches on an affordable Redragon K552P RGB mechanical gaming keyboard with quieter and stiffer Black linear switches. The end result is a pretty decent gaming keyboard, but with the added expense of the switches, I probably could have done better. Especially since a bunch of YouTube keyboard modders said Redragon keyboards take Akko switches, which I bought first, but they didn't fit. These Outemu switches do fit, but the cheap Redragon "hot-swap" sockets are tight and require a good amount of force to install the switch. Not to mention, pulling out the Blue switches first, which was also difficult (several Blue switches were broken in the process). I ended up disassembling the keyboard, which made things easier. But this is a review of the Outemu Black switches, and they are working great for me. Smoother and quieter than the Blue switches, with a nice linear feel and a stiffer 60 gram actuation force (which I prefer). The stock Redragon shine-through keycaps fit the Outemu switches, look really good with the RGB backlight, and are "good enough" for now. Some double-shot PBT keycaps would be an improvement, but honestly, if you are thinking about modding a Redragon keyboard, I'd recommend you just get the parts to build a proper mechanical keyboard. I purchased 2 different versions of the Outemu switches, these 60gf switches, which were used on the outer keys (F1-F12, Tab, Shift, etc.), and another 65gf version which were used for the main alphabet, number and punctuation keys. I re-used one of the Blue switches for CapsLk, but swapped in the stiffer spring, that way I will hear an audible click if I accidentally hit caps lock (did the same for PrtSc, ScrLk & Pause). In the end I'm happy with the result, and my "cheap" RGB mechanical gaming keyboard is much nicer to use than the stock Redragon K552P with its noisy, tactile Blue switches. Now I realize that keyboard sound and feel is a very subjective thing, and there are a lot of you who love the noisy, clickity-clackity Blue switches, but if you are one of those, why are you reading this review?
Review: Excellent, but buy a proper puller if you wanna game after lol - Bought these to replace my blue switches in my Reddragon Kumara for gaming reasons (2018+ versions are hotswap no soldering needed just make sure they have the diy sticker on the box). These worked perfectly, no clicks super smooth no wobble to the keys. Could feel the diff in actuation force and were a lot more comfortable to type on than blues. My board is half blue half red now so I get a bit of both (red keys only on important gaming keys). Product came with switch puller but I advise getting a better one for a few bucks and save your digits 2 days of pain. Had to use 2 hands to tank them out but I’m pretty small guy. The switches did come packaged in a plastic bag in a bubbled package in a prime package so they were well protected, however a few keys had their pins bent. Other than those minor issues great product great price!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy replacement, quality product
*by H***R on December 1, 2025*

Currently own a keyboard with Gateron Brown keys. The switches on my keyboard began to fail, causing double clicks and/or not registering. Bought this attempt a repair on my $120 keyboard. The sound is the same as my original keys, which is great. Replacement is also easy since the package comes with switch removers. Simply remove the key cap, use the switch tool to remove the switch, and insert the new switch. Done, takes like 15 seconds each switch. Great price for many parts.
