## Overview

The Pentair Pentek 158110 is a 5-inch slim line water filter housing featuring a clear blue polypropylene body for easy visual inspection, a pressure relief button for simplified cartridge replacement, and a leak-proof seal. Designed for under-sink installation, it fits all standard 5" x 2.5" filter cartridges and supports 3/8" NPT connections, making it a versatile, space-saving solution for clean, reliable water filtration.

## Description

Pentair Pentek Slim Line Filter Housings are available in either reinforced polypropylene or clear Styrene-Acrylonitrile (SAN) in 5", 10" and 20" lengths. The black or blue reinforced polypropylene housing caps are available with 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" NPT connections. Four bosses are molded into every cap for mounting purposes. They are equipped with a black, reinforced polypropylene cap and offer an optional pressure-relief button on the inlet side to relieve pressure inside the housing when changing filter cartridges. Opaque Slim Line Filter Housings, molded from rugged reinforced polypropylene, offer outstanding chemical compatibility and are ideal for use in a variety of low-flow applications. These applications include undersink and countertop residential filtration, pre- and post-reverse osmosis filtration, recreational vehicle filtration, foodservice and humidifying systems. Clear Slim Line Filter Housings offer on-site examination of flow, performance, and cartridge life. They are also ideal for a variety of applications.

The particles were accumulating in the plastic filter screens in the faucet, and resulted in a ruined faucet because of the stripped fine gage plastic threads on the faucet aerator and faucet spout. I purchased a new faucet and decided to install two Pentek 3/8" 1/2-height filters in the supply lines to ensure the new faucet would last.. I also installed two ball valves ahead of the filters and purchased 2 brackets to mount the filters on the side of the cabinet. I chose the 3/8" filter housing over the standard 1/4" housing to minimize pressure loss. Two pieces of advice: Purchase a filter wrench and purchase a tube of silicone grease approved for contact with potable water...it'll make maintenance a lot easier. I also laid in a good supply of coarse polypropylene filters (they're cheap). The arrangement has worked wonderfully. Although the filter is not rated for hot water, the filter housing has worked well with 120 degree water. I have been pleased with the quality and performance of the product..
Review: High Quality - I purchased this about 3 years ago to pre-filter water for the humidifier on the furnace, as I was tired of dealing with a fouled up solenoid valve, screen and water panel so frequently. This turned out to be a great investment. It was incredible to see how much filth was pulled from the municipal water supply and has drastically improved the life of my Aprilaire components! Unless you connect via fittings directly to 1/2" or larger diameter copper line, I recommend the bracket. It's a bit flimsy but helps.
