Texas & Pacific is a strategic board game for 2-6 players aged 14+, set in the 19th-century Midwest and Texas. Players compete as investors and ranchers, buying stock certificates and expanding railroads to maximize dividends and wealth. ## Description

TEXAS & PACIFIC - The train depot is a noisy place, with cowboys shouting and cows mooing as they are loaded on the stock cars of the cattle train. While the steam locomotive hisses as it is refilled with water from the spout, smiling ranch owners think of the riches they will receive once the train reaches Chicago. Some of them were smart enough to buy shares in the Railroad, which finally reached the town this Spring. Business is booming! GOAL OF THE GAME: In Texas & Pacific, 2 to 6 players represent wealthy investors and ranchers in 19th-century Midwest and Texas. Players buy Stock Certificates from the major railroads of the era. They compete to earn the most money during the game by carefully timing Dividend payments and expanding the railroads across the plains to increase the value of their holdings. At the end of the game, the player with the most money is the winner. 4 SEQUENCE OF PLAY: During their turn, a player must pick a Decision from the available options and slide the cube on that Decision Track one space to the right. The three Decision Tracks are: • Stock • Ranch • Track. After the actions related to the selected Decision are completed, events may occur: • Go West • The Texas & Pacific Railroad Opens • General Dividends • End of Game. If the game does not end, play continues with the player on the current player’s left. Type: Train Game. Players: 2-6 Players. Length: 30-60 minutes

Review: Poor Production Quality - I'm not at all opposed to the cheap quality=affordable game model, but this is really below par. There are misprints galore on the board and the tiles don't fit. I am told that you can get a replacement for free from the publisher but I live overseas so that is probably not an option, and I don't think that that is acceptable anyway. The paper money is totally unusable; most of the game would be taken up separating thin pieces of paper. Do not attempt to play without poker chips or similar replacement. Three stars are for the good gameplay and low price point; I don't think it fair to rate a purchase I don't regret any lower.

I'm not at all opposed to the cheap quality=affordable game model, but this is really below par. There are misprints galore on the board and the tiles don't fit. I am told that you can get a replacement for free from the publisher but I live overseas so that is probably not an option, and I don't think that that is acceptable anyway. The paper money is totally unusable; most of the game would be taken up separating thin pieces of paper. Do not attempt to play without poker chips or similar replacement. Three stars are for the good gameplay and low price point; I don't think it fair to rate a purchase I don't regret any lower.
