Safe for pollinators, pets, and people, it requires early and frequent application for optimal results. ## Description From the manufacturer Grazers When applied to green photosynthesising leaves and stems, the calcium-based, Grazers products work by creating a ‘plant-mediated effect’ that dissuades the pests from eating these plants. The indigenous pests then seek other nearby food sources instead and so leave our plants to thrive, helped in their growth by the calcium nutrient in the products. Therefore Grazers benefits not only our plants, which in effect are ‘helped to help themselves’, but also predators of the plant pests, thereby keeping the natural wildlife food chain in place, so enhancing the environment. From the outset, Grazers always sought to produce a product range that was totally safe , not just to humans, their crops and their pets, but to all wildlife. Only issue compared with chemical versions is that with this is the product has to contact the caterpillar whereas chemical sprays will prevent future caterpillars for a period of months.. I found that using a fine netting over the plants prevents most butterflies getting through to lay eggs, then any that do manage to get through it’s easy to take care of using Grazers spray. **Q: Can this product be used To treat Thrips** A: It will help as a prevention if sprayed weekly during periods of risk and benefit the plant due to its content. The active ingredients are 1. dilute food grade nutrient and 2. plant derived. Many thanks **Q: Will this deter rabbits from eating my plants.** A: Grazers G3 isn't supposed to be for rabbit deterrence - they do another formula (G1) for grazing mammals (never used G1 as I don't have that problem). G3 is to deter caterpillars and sap-suckering insects like aphids - it's been fantastic 2 years running for my tomato plants, lettuces, pak choi, chard and many flowering plants. I would highly recommend it because it works, and because of the way in which it works. I had loads of aphids in late spring to early summer on everything from containerised bamboo to young Salvias and other perennials. I used this liberally and frequently and observed plant resistance building up over time. I used it when plants were young and in rapid growth and had stopped using it by July, when everything seemed mature enough to cope and my desire to encourage wildlife overcame my desire for pristine plants. I try to be as wildlife friendly as practicable so I'm a gardener who is happy to live with some plant damage. In the case of aphids and their ant farmers, I left a couple of hardier plants untreated.
