It is good as a light sleep cap or for under hats. However, a cancer patient with hair loss might prefer something that really does come down to cover the tops of the ears. While it looks like this does, it does not. I had to shave my head to better treat my severe scalp psoriasis, and needed something to keep my head warm while sleeping. This cap is soft, stretchy, and stays put while not being too tight or giving me headaches. It seems to be made from a lightweight tissue jersey knit fabric which is very comfortable.It covers my whole head, including my ears except for the very bottom of the lobes. I am sure that if I stretched it, I could get them covered too. I have an average sized head (for a female) at 21 and 3/4 inches from hairline to nape (measured over the ears.I think this cap would also be great to use when working out at the gym as it would catch sweat, but not be too heavy or hot.I will either order again or make a pattern from this one to sew my own.
