It is the best pepper mill I've ever owned for 4 reasons: 1. Highest output per turn or per second compared to any other pepper mill, even $100+ electric ones, and it's still very easy to turn 2. Adjustability - super coarse to super fine, or anywhere inbetween 3. Build quality - Stainless steel grinding mechanism and internals, feels very well built even though the outside is plastic. 4. Extremely high capacity for it's size - doesn't require refilling very often because about 1/3 of it's total size is just the refill chamber! **Q: Is there a click when you close the fill-ring or is it free to "wander"? Thanks a bunch!** A: The fill-ring does not lock/click into place. Since I tend to be rather aggressive in my grinding movements, I have placed a strip of blue "painters" tape on the fill-ring area so it definitely does not open during my "wild" grinding. This works - and I really like its' grinding mechanism which I use exclusively for white pepper. **Q: is the interior of the mill plastic?** A: No, all of the working parts are metal which is another reason I'm so happy with it. There is a plastic piece in the area where you fill it (you can see the round hole in the center - you slide it around to open. that interior cylinder is plastic.
