The bag comes with 2 nylon straps with plastic hooks, but also has metal reinforced holes where you can attach the bag to your saddle leathers. The bags are lined, but we were riding in 85 degree weather, and my horse was generating alot of heat climbing steep hills, and my ice packs were completely melted by the end of our 3 hour ride.
