Any one here used both to compare efficacy?** A: The Periogen is much finer and dissolves in water better. It is excellent for keeping tartar off all dental work. **Q: Is this product sodium-lauryl-sulfate-free ?** A: Hello.. The ingredients as listed on the bottle are: tetrepotassium pyrophosate, sodium tripolyphosate, sodium bicarbonite, citric acid, sodium flouride o.4 %. I can tell you it is a wonderful product. I have the most annoying hard tarter that seems to form overnight. As long as I use this in my waterpik and once in a while I use some dry on my toothbrush, it will keep my teeth tarter free. I do notice if I don't use it for a week or so(was on a vacation and did not take it with me), the tarter builds back up, but now that I have used it for about 10 months I have little to no tarter. As long as you are not opposed to any of the ingredients I really think you will like it. I will add that I am a 65 year old female with the normal condition of aging teeth. (I think this is helpful in reviews). **Q: Does it work on really hard tartar?** A: No! I would ask instead, does "snake oil" work on really hard tartar.
