The pad is not very porous; there are a few holes drilled in that help drain liquid but this isn't as effective as I'd like for my application. To test, I poured 50 mL of water over a small area which I then collected and measured at ~25 mL so about 50% was absorbed by the turf. Unfortunately for my application this means urine will pool up in the fibers and dry, resulting in a foul-smelling pad in a short span of time. The texture of the turf is very dense, but the dogs don't seem to mind this. Ultimately, the reason for my rating being so high is the price.
