I spent quite a while researching audio extractors so that I could get audio from my Epson projector. There seemed to be some downside with all that I researched according to their specs or reviews. I went with this one going off a "top 10" review list and I'm not disappointed. I only received it in the post today but tried it out and am delighted with the outcome. I tested it by casting a streamed movie from the Netflix App on my Samsung S7 phone to my Google Chromecast and sent the analog audio from the box to my speaker which has a 3.5mm jack input. I also played a few videos from the YouTube App. Picture and sound quality was excellent with no lag or issues with lip syncing. I was prepared to pay a lot more for a box that does the job. The price of this one is an added bonus. Review: Creates an excellent analogue surround signal for Dolby analogue processor. - Needed a box to split the sound out of an hdmi out from a computer to create two channel analogue sound to feed an old analogue cimema amp so picture continues on to projector “tv” and sound goes to Yamaha cinema amp from 1990s, Perfect gives old Dolby style signal in analogue that is to say surround sound info on two channels for pro logic processor, so movies play fine as does desertcart and Netflix in analogue. Like you would have got from a DVD player. The optical output can be switched to derive either 2-channel Stereo or 5.1 Multi-channel audio, whilst the HDMI signal can support display resolutions up to 1080p, at either 50 or 60Hz. A green LED beside the 'HDMI Out' socket lights when sync is attained via its HDMI connections. One point worthy of note is that if you select either 'Pass' or '5.1' Multi-channel audio on the 3-position switch, there will be no analogue audio output on the two RCA connectors! Supplied with a 5v plug-top PSU, you MUST make your connections - and decide on which form of audio you wish to derive - BEFORE applying power to the Extractor unit. You should also de-power the device before removing any connections from it. Subsequently (3 months later) ... The previous section of this review was made following attempts to decode the audio from an SACD via the HDMI output of my Sony Blu-ray player. I have subsequently been attempting to do the same, but this time using a number of Blu-ray audio discs. On this occasion, the Musou device is outputting 'holes' (at ~1Hz) in the signal on the EIA-J/TOS-link optical output (the HDMI and analogue audio outputs were both still OK) which later became rather more frequent (about ~3Hz!) before I stopped using the device. Subsequently, having purchased a second unit, I concluded that the 'fault' is down to the Musou unit, as by direct substitution I was able to obtain an error-free signal using a competitors device. To be fair, when contacted through Amazon about the problem, the suppliers (Musou) were very helpful, responding quickly and very positively, offering a replacement device.
