I haven’t used it, but I don’t think it’s necessary. Between a kitten and a chunky adult who get zoomies a lot, it’s withheld all their playing and they love to sleep in the beds at the top. That being said, it is definitely more favorable for small cats and kittens. The overall size is a bit small for larger and fatter cats, but my chunky one still makes it work. I believe that the other (extra large) is a misprint due to the measurements of (22.04"L x 11.4"W x 17.7"H) that’s listed for the extra large, if you think about these measurements they would for a really small tree.
