Review: Very clear recording! - I bought this voice recorder with the Olympus ME34 Compact Zoom Microphone to record lectures in a relatively small room filled with about 20 people. The recordings are very clear and far better than any other voice recordings I have encountered during my course! I was particularly impressed that one can set the recording angle in order to pick up what is said at the front of the room rather than from all over the room. I also used it to record while playing the ukulele with a really nice sounding result. Would definitely recommend this item! I am planning to record my hypnotherapy cd with it and am sure I won't be disappointed! The menu is a bit fiddly, but once I knew what I was doing it was ok! Review: I finally got my dream recorder haha! - This is exactly what I have been wanting for so long for a digital recorder. I am so happy with the quality of the unit and most especially of the recording. It is really very sensitive though so handling the unit while recording must be kept to a pinpoint minimum. A slight nudge or a simple scrunch on the case is captured by the mircophone. This gadget is so cool haha. How I wish I had this during college. I could have used this in so many ways at school haha.I love how it comes with 2 AAA olympus batteries and its own leather case and strap. Great recharging feature once plugged via usb port. Let me save more instead of buying a separate charger. All in all I saved at least £30 for this purchase. Great buy indeed!^_^ ## Features - 8GB internal memory plus microSD(HC) slot - 3 high-quality microphones for true, wideband stereo recording - Linear PCM (48kHz/16bit = better than CD quality), MP3 and WMA - 9 scene modes for most convenient recording - Partial Erase, file Copy/move/divide, voice guidance and index marks ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B005LOJ0R4 | | Battery Average Life | 20 hours | | Best Sellers Rank | 394,303 in Stationery & Office Supplies ( See Top 100 in Stationery & Office Supplies ) 612 in Digital Voice Recorders | | Brand | Olympus | | Brand Name | Olympus | | Compatible Devices | Personal Computer | | Compatible devices | Personal Computer | | Customer Reviews | 3.9 out of 5 stars 88 Reviews | | Digital Recording Time | 168 cm | | Format | MP3 Audio , WMA | | Global Trade Identification Number | 05053460565706 | | Hardware Interface | USB | | Hardware interface | USB | | Headphone jack | 3.5 millimeters | | Headphones Jack | 3.5 millimeters | | Item Part Number | V407111BE000 | | Item Weight | 0.09 Grams | | Manufacturer | Olympus | | Manufacturer Part Number | DM-670 | | Memory Storage Capacity | 8 GB | | Microphone Form Factor | Built-In | | Microphone Operation Mode | Stereo | | Microphone form factor | Built-In | | Model Number | DM-670 | | Number of Batteries | 2 AAA batteries required. Example a meeting room with about 20 people?** A: Set the microphone sensitivity to maximum and this recorder is eminently capable of making a good recording in which the most distant speaker can be clearly heard. Also, even with under-recorded material, (even whispers) the free audio software AUDACITY (downloaded separately) can easily / quickly ENHANCE the volume to reveal material. **Q: Can this be voice activated?** A: I'm 99% sure that it cannot be voice activated unless I didn't see the settings for it.Also, you would think that they would advertise with that kind of functionality... **Q: How long can you record for and does it make a sound when it stops** A: I'll answer in two parts:- 1) How much time is left depends entirely on how much memory you have left. You start off with 8GB, and you can purchase an additional Micro SD card of up to 32GB; you cannot use both tracks of memory - you must switch from one to the other. 2) I think it gives warning sounds a minute or more before it will stop recording. Hope this answers your questions. **Q: Thank you. Please one more question, what color is this digital recorder? Black or Silver?** A: Thanks for your question, if it is the dm-670, it is black. If It is the the dm-650, it is silver.
