I still choose this water filter pitcher over other water filters out there. This two filter system produces the best tasting water - backed my dad who's very picky and apparently can taste everything and anything that it could be "contaminated" with lol. (He was how I ended up with this pitcher) After owning two of this, here's my praise and absolute woe. PROS: Definitely filters all the "ick" in tap water that affects our cooking, drinks, etc. Ice tastes great, coffee tastes great. I'm absolutely satisfied with it! Better than other brands out there!! Pro Tip: if you need more water filtered, then just remove the cap and fill to the top. CONS: I'm pretty sure others have written the same thing. THE LID IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. (I'm putting it in caps in hopes that LifeStraw company notices. Probably not, but worth a shot). You. CAN'T. Clean this thing!!!!! Why they made the flap not removable - I can only think they've never used this pitcher themselves, and never lived in a humid climate in the slightest. Moisture gets trapped in there, and even in my most meticulous attempt at keeping it dry, IT WILL GROW MOLD UGH. The silicone ring IS ALSO NOT REMOVABLE and it will grow mold around the edges. You really cant get good leverage with a sponge or anything to really scrub the filth off. I mean, I guess you *could* if you have extremely long fingers and no knuckles lol. I tried with wire cleaner. I tried with every type and shape of cleaning brush. Sponge with wires!!! Oh, and it grows mold where the flaps are connected, which, again, is impossible to get to - after years of attempting to maneuver edges of paper towels to scrape the mold off. I will say, they sure made the lid very durable because IF I COULD BREAK THAT DAMN LID OFF I WOULD HAVE. I'm tired. Of all the things going on in the world right now, THIS IS THE LAST THING I WANTED ON MY MIND. Lol. Did you know they have a YouTube channel that "shows" you how to clean this thing.... But conveniently left out how to clean this lid? And 90% of the comments asks for how to clean the lid.... but THEY DON'T ANSWER!?!? One more thing. Definitely invest in the silicone bottom cover. Without it, the plastic WILL CRACK. That's why I'm on my 2nd one. With it, zero issues. Honestly I could live with this. But the lid frustration knocks 2 stars off. Guys, I've tried my best to figure it out and to live with it. I want to love it But I'm just so done. Lol.
