This light works for that purpose. It is not a great light to use on a dark trail, as the handlebars point the light slightly upwards instead of down on the ground. Review: RIDING HAZARD - Blinding to rider, points up offering to sky, no help to light road ahead - I was super excited to purchase this product and thought it was very cool. Received it, installed it, looked great! Then went out for a night ride.. Disaster! The light is aimed up to the heavens and offers no help lighting straight ahead or the road itself. Worse then that - from a riding position the lights are visible with nothing blocking your eyes and the 5 LED's are so BRIGHT that they are annoying in general and will blind you if you look down at the road in front of you. Super disappointed. As awesome as it looks and as great of an idea it was.. they are a complete riding hazard. Disappointed I will be returning this product.
