The thermal pads aren't too sticky and you can readjust them and or swap it to another m.2 SSD later on. It seems to keep it about 10 C cooler. The case fans seem to blow enough air across it too. I have seen some m.2 heatsinks with a fan built in and that would be overkill. I'd recommend this and I like how they offer a lot of colors. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Adds some nice color *by B***. on February 18, 2019* Purchased two of these to go on my primary NVME drive, and the second to go on a sort of "dummy" drive for decorative purposes. They install pretty easily overall, and look great. One thing I was afraid of was a supposed bowing of the m.2 drive. Unless you're trying to force this to fit a dual side m.2 drive, you shouldn't have this issue. Another issue that is pretty easily avoidable is scratching off the anodized coating. This usually will occur during installation of the retaining clips. As long as you have everything lined up when you install the clips, you shouldn't see any scratches. If you're going to swap these heatsinks to different drives, it's pretty easy to do. Just take the m.2 heatsink sandwich, place it on a hard surface, gently press down on the heatsink, then use the backside of a pen, or other plastic bit to push the side of the clip off. Fairly easy to work with, and looks good. Will buy again for future builds. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Clip orientation matters. Stickers on ssd don't matter. *by J***C on June 13, 2019* I don't write reviews often. This is a mixed bag. I have an ssd with a sticker on top and a very thin copper plate & sticker on the bottom (960 Pro 1TB) that hit 76 before this heatsink.Yes it will drop temperatures down to 60 under load for 'drive temperature 2' in HWiNFO64/32. Memory or drive temperature 1 never reached above 50 w/o the heatsink anyway.I have a small 20x20x40 mm no tuba fan pointed at this drive in my case. It sits on my graphics card without a mount (the fan, ssd is mounted to motherboard).I didn't take my stickers off. Your mileage will get better without stickers for sure.With stickers on (I didn't try with them off) this was a b✺ to get on. Clip orientation matters and I have no clue how to convey that other than the clips, looked at from an angle as if they're cookie cutters, have uneven legs. The longer leg is designed to sit in the wider part of the heatsink groove. (With the heatsink on a table with the logo towards you and screw cut-out away from you, I think it's the left side).Please don't break your ssd. Put the whole assembly on a table and then shove the clips on carefully (to not rip off components on the edge of your ssd).And yes, the thermal pad has plastic on both sides that needs to come off before you apply it to anything. Try not to touch it much. It's not very sticky so it slides around but that's normal.I gained maybe 250-300 MB/s read seq Q32T1 in CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2x64 -- the only metric I really care about apart from temperature.Perf after heatsink: r/w, MB/s, 8 runs per test, 16GiB transfers:SeqQ32T1: 3295.4, 2069.44KiB Q8T8: 1663.5, 1467.84KiB Q32T1: 323.9, 227.34KiB Q121: 47.58, 121.9Build quality is alright. So so. Materials are just fine for what they are. But instructions are severely lacking.
