A: When the tube is collapsed, it locks pretty securely. There is no real trick to opening it. you just have to pull very hard. Once it is opened and closed a few times, it gets easier.

A: Usually anything with a higher tooth count (TPI) will work best and provide a smoother cut. Higher tooth counts are usually metal cutting blades but can be used in wood also, for a much finer cut for precision.
