    Awesome hiking shoes

*by K***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 8, 2020*

So, I just got back from a 4 hour "moderate/difficult" trail hike near Tucson, AZ. First time I wore these other than in the house and I have no blisters, painful areas, etc. I usually wait to be asked questions before writing a review, but I just have to write about these Keen Voyageur hiking shoes. As reference: I usually wear 8-8 1/2 in regular shoes and 8 1/2 in hiking and sport shoes. I ordered these in 8 1/2 and they fit great for me! Also, I have wider feet for a female; I am over 60; I've been hiking a LOT the last 3 weeks during coronavirus limitations (yes, we are practicing distancing, wearing masks, etc), and my preference is to hike in my Keen water sandals (my feet are happier "breathing" :)I ordered 3 pair of hiking shoes (also tried 2 pair of trail runners but could tell right away they wouldn't work for me), which included Oboz Sawtooth ii low (they would have been another good choice, footbed was just a little "off" for my foot and I would have needed a size 9); Merrell Womens Moab 2 vent (another good choice, but the footbed seemed a little "flat" for me and I read one review that stated the "ramp angle" of the Merrell's was causing problems, which may have been an issue for me as well).Pros: nice, wide ball and toe area (I do not like my feet to feel "snug"); great grip (we were on rock; gravel over rock; dirt); light feeling; great right out of the boxCons: none for me! Have yet to see how durable they will be, but for right now, they are "perfect" for me.

Big toe box is great on the downhill!

*by C***O on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 4, 2014*

The toe box on the Voyager style is roomy, more so than other hiking boots. They give me Frankenfeet, yet they are my favorite hiking boots of all time! Why? That large toe box is GREAT on a steep downhill. No more toes slamming into the front of my boots! There were so many different styles I had a tough time choosing. I ordered these after my husband bought the men's high top verison. He said they were comfortable right out of the box, and liked the extra room up front, so I thought I'd give them a try. I always wear these with a pair of cushioned hiking socks (I have the Thorlo brand right now). I find this helps with fit (the shoes run a bit big all over otherwise) and blister prevention. The tread and sturdy construction keep my feet supported and stable on all surfaces. Coupled with the socks, my feet stay warm/cool and (mainly) dry. Hey, they're not waterproof, but they are pretty water resistant!Note on customer service - within the first three weeks of use, one of the upper eyelets broke off my husband's boot. Amazon no longer had his size (men's 13) in stock, so he called Keen and they quickly gave him a credit to order a new pair of shoes on their website. We've had our Keens for eight months and have probably logged 150 miles in them. We've hiked mainly short (10 miles or less), moderately strenuous trails including trekking the granite rock scramble of Old Rag Mountain (Shenandoah, VA), over snowpack to the fire tower on Mt. Washburn (Yellowstone, WY), through mud and runoff to Snyder Lake (Glacier, MT), up the Notch trail ladder (Badlands, SD), and through arid scrub to Delicate Arch (Arches, UT). After all that, they look and feel practically brand new.

    NOT SLIP RESISTANT

*by A***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 17, 2022*

While these fit well, were comfortable and had good support overall, I had to make sure I didn't wear these on anything but dry surfaces, dirt and rocks, or carpet. Can't count the number of times these made me slip and fall, messing up my knee on at least two occasions. Unreliable traction and shouldn't a hiking shoe have consistent traction? Seems a no-brainer to me. Disappointing for the price and ultimately convinced me to never buy another pair after taking a chance (and being disappointed!) on pair #2.
