I often have pain in my hips, lowerback, and knees because of the amount of walking and standing I do daily, but these shoes have alleviated 95% of my discomfort. They are well padded on the inside, and the strap that runs along the top of the shoe has not caused any discomfort. They look great with jeans, or dress pants, and so far have not shown any significant wear. Any scuffing they may have received along the toe area can be easily buffed out.My only complaint regarding these shoes has to do with the smooth outer bottom of the shoe. This shoe has very little tred, or grooves along the bottom to really grip the floor or ground. If you're really exuberant, running about in these shoes, the velcro will slip after a couple years.Bottom line: awesome shoes. Shoes can do that, you ask? Yes indeed -- read on.I'm a high school teacher who purchased these from my husband's account. Clarks is a great brand and the shoes are very well-made. They have good support without having heels; they're very comfortable to wear all day. They look great too, in my opinion. The only thing I've noticed is that the right shoe's heel now makes a farting noise when I shift my weight back and forth. Since I frequently suffer from rectal turbulence in class and regularly seek people and things on which to blame the noise, they are actually highly effective. While teaching, I simply sneak a sphincter whistle in between the "farty shoe" sounds that my students are now used to and get away scot-free.
