I am not sure what I expected, but they do the job just fine. They do not "refresh" my legs, but maybe I just do not notice after 3 hours? A word to anyone larger out there - I ordered the size listed on their chart given my height and weight. The pants arrived looking like they would fit a 2 yr old but, having read other reviews, I got them on (no easy feat). Given that they are very snug everywhere except the waist, I find they chafe badly at the waist. I have tried tightening the draw string (which is ridiculously long) but it doesnt help. Waistline drawstring is much too long and therefore has to be "tucked" somewhere else (I usually have to wrap mine around to my back!)2. I've run several "longer" races in these (>10 miles), I don't know that they helped with soreness that much.
