I used to use them for phone logs because the cover would support the book on my lap, and there was no need for a table or desk. Was hoping these had those stiff covers. They do not, and can be bent easily with two fingers. The covers are approximately 20% as thick as the former ones. **Q: What is the size** A: Regular size composition (like the black and white marbled) book. Very professional in appearance. The photo does not do these composition books justice. We expected them to look a little faded, however, they are not. The colors are vivid, yet, not obnoxiously so. There is another bonus. If you are in an area like mine and your children receive a list of school supplies that are often given to other students these will help separate their supplies from others. Many do not realize that something as small as school supplies can o influence your child’s growth. They want items that they can feel are their own.
