Close one! ... A 10 would have still fit snugly and gorgeously . This dress fits snugly right around your waste giving it that flattering look, that everyone loves! My mom is 5'9 about 160, and the length was just Long enough for her. It hits her right at the top of the knee...beautifully! The top of the dress is flattering across the shoulders and back. But I do have to say, I tried on the dress, (I wear size 10)and I would have been out of luck in a size 8, because I'm more curvy with jumbo boobs and broad shoulders, 5 foot 8, 170 lbs...it sinched the dress up about 3 inches above my knee.. ( shorter than most work dress codes ). It still zipped up, and did flatter my waste and arms/shoulder/ back...but the length creeped up. This dress ain't cheap, it's made beautifully...zips up great. .but if you're a true 10, order in 10. It won't fit loosely, it's a pretty girl dress, made well, can't look bad no matter what. Length is perfect; falls just below my knees. If you're looking for a dress suitable for work and church, this one should do it for you! For reference. I gingerly opened up the package knowing I would have to return it but wanted to try it on anyway...Well - It fit! Zipper closed beautifully, I was shocked - I could get away with wearing it even tho I was a size 10! I am starting to lose weight but that normally would not happen, right? Anyway, more on the dress: fully lined, well made, hugs where it's supposed to and flares out nicely - not too much. The black sheer cuts on the upper part of the dress looked great and make the dress!
