I've been doing plumbing as a DIY'er for 50+ years having sweated hundreds, if not thousands, of copper fittings so the first time I saw a push to connect fitting I scoffed and swore I would never use one until about 15 years ago when I needed to make a temporary connection to a hot water heater and, lacking a torch, had to use a couple. Those "temporary" connections lasted the life time of the water heater and then some with out dripping one drop of water and over the course of years I've become a fan of these as they work, are simple to use and you don't have to worry about getting all the water out of a line or catching something on fire. The one thing I lacked was one of these depth gauges/deburring tools so when I saw this I decided it was high time to get one and I'm glad I did. Now I now longer have to guess as to when the fitting is fully seated (critical to making a good connection) and a quick way to deburr what ever I'm attaching it to in order so that the internal o-ring isn't damaged as it's put on. This is a great tool to have in my tool box and with the three sizes that I always use on one tool keeps anything from being lost. Works great and wasn't very expensive, certainly worth the money.

I've become a big fan of SharkBite fittings. I've been doing plumbing as a DIY'er for 50+ years having sweated hundreds, if not thousands, of copper fittings so the first time I saw a push to connect fitting I scoffed and swore I would never use one until about 15 years ago when I needed to make a temporary connection to a hot water heater and, lacking a torch, had to use a couple. Those "temporary" connections lasted the life time of the water heater and then some with out dripping one drop of water and over the course of years I've become a fan of these as they work, are simple to use and you don't have to worry about getting all the water out of a line or catching something on fire. The one thing I lacked was one of these depth gauges/deburring tools so when I saw this I decided it was high time to get one and I'm glad I did. Now I now longer have to guess as to when the fitting is fully seated (critical to making a good connection) and a quick way to deburr what ever I'm attaching it to in order so that the internal o-ring isn't damaged as it's put on.
