Will this work for all** A: It sounds like some of the tringle pins in your 1850s era grand were replaced with relatively more modern square head pins. This device is only meant for the square pins, I don't have any of the triangle pins currently but I doubt it would fit. **Q: What are the precise dimensions of this pin?** A: measuring the round under the square portion .283 or a number 2 pin **Q: What else would I need to attach this to a breaker bar to get leverage to loosen the pins/ tensioned strings for dismantling?** A: You should be able to loosen the pins using this tool in a power drill with a reverse feature. **Q: I have square tuning pins that have a slight taper, will this fit?** A: Yes--that's precisely what it's for. My tuning pins are shaped the same and I was able to turn them with no problem. Has been used to remove hundreds of strings with no sign of wearing down or becoming stripped. Even with REALLY tight ones that give our tools trouble. Just make sure to see some YT videos about skipping strings (if removing them). There's 10s of thousands of lbs of pressure, and I thought "it's probably rare that the harp breaks and the whole piano explodes" but after pulling about SIX of them, I started to hear some 'movement' sounds and I've done the skipping method ever since, very safely. At first, I thought it was expensive.
