I bought it because I get neck pain from a muscle spasm caused by "neck straightening" or something like that. My old pillow was talalay latex, and gloriously comfortable and soft and springy. But, it didn't have support for my neck arch. So I looked up reviews and thought I'd try this pillow, I felt I had nothing to lose because I was so desperate to help my neck pain.Even though it felt hard and uncomfortable while I was awake lying in bed, I actually wake up without neck pain, and so I guess it is doing its job. While I'm asleep I've never had an issue with the pillow (like I don't wake up and think "this is uncomfortable"), so I guess it's like a mattress - if it's too soft and plush, even though it may feel comfortable while you're awake, it will actually give you back pain overnight because of the lack of support.
