She used small bits of ceramic paper, and I started thinking... Turns out ceramic paper is a great solution for insulating surfaces near combustion engines and friction surfaces.I have used it on firewalls (top it with Teknofibra + stainless steel tool wrap) and to protect fiberglass from the heat of triple puck brakes. Next is going to be using it near exhaust systems - use a high temperature spray adhesive (Permatex headliner adhesive) to fix the insulation to the fiberglass, then top with the tool wrap.I'm protecting the ceramic paper from oils and solvents - I'm pretty sure it will wick those products.
