    Blazing Fast, But Runs Hot

*by M***Y on Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2018*

PROS:+ Speed. I saw read speeds of 1000+MB/s and write 800+MB/s+ Heatsink included (see Cons)CONS:* Runs hot. After installing the heatsink it runs warm. I first installed without the heatsink and saw idle temps of 60ºC and it cracked 80ºC once while in use. After installing the heatsink, idle temps hover around 45ºC and working temps from 55ºC inching up into the 60s. Now, this is also while running an external fan. Without the external fan, more than 60ºC isn't uncommon. For reference, this stick is currently housed in an Acer E5-575-33BM laptop with decent ventilation, and is functioning as my primary boot drive running Win10 Home. If you're installing into a tower with good airflow and a couple good fans, you may not have a problem with heat. If you're installing into a laptop (even one with adequate airflow), there's a good chance you'll bump into the heat problem. All in all, I'm pleased with the drive, though the heat worries me, but for the price I feel it's a worthwhile investment for the added speed. I'll update should anything significant happen. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the product or my experience with it, please leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer.

Good when it decides to work, look elsewhere

*by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2018*

Purchased the 256GB version of this drive. Installed easily on my Asrock X370 Killer SLI/AC into the lower m.2 mount. Recognized by windows but was not able to format or make any partitions until after a restart. Got it all configured so I installed Fallout 4 with the high-res texture pack onto it. This drive is blazing fast, loading times were very short and even nonexistent in some cases. But the reason I have rated it 2 stars is due to the drive completely dropping out of windows. Usually about 45 minutes into a game, the SSD drops out of windows and the entire system has a hard crash, requiring a reset using the switch on my case. Tried updating firmware, BIOS, reinstalling windows, and replacing the drive with a samsung 960 evo. The samsung has never dropped out once or caused any crashes, even under heavy gaming loads at 4K.Maybe I got a bad drive, but as of now I am steering clear of ADATA for my future SSD needs.TL;DR this drive is fast... when it wants to work. Spend a little more and get a samsung or wd drive.

Replaced after 8 months, started to fail 4 months after installed.

*by R***Z on Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2018*

NOT RECOMMENDED! STAY AWAY!UPDATE3: On September 2018 (8 months later), another media error occurred, then the spare threshold value started to decrease *daily* at a rate of 1-2%. It was 68% at the time or replacement. I went with another brand, in their new black series, this time with an x4 NVME and moved the drives that constrained me to use x2 to another system. Boy, the new drive is a true NVME, I get the 3GB/s advertised, whereas with the ADATA I got only around 300MB/s (Should have been 1600MB/s).UPDATE2: Another error starting an application, had to reinstall the application. By July 2018, in the SMART logs there are "68 media errors", there were "2 media errors" in April 2018. This doesn't seem to be a reliable drive. I will keep it until it dies, and keep updating this review. This drive was acquired in January 2018. As I require an x2 NVME (instead of x4), to have access to all my SATA ports in my motherboard, you might be in the same position, there are now x2 NVME options by Corsair and Toshiba.UPDATE1: About three months in, a file appeared damaged, so an application wouldn't start, after pinpointing the issue, I reinstalled and everything is well. Then I checked the SMART logs, and it says "2 media errors". Also, suddenly speeds are around 300MB/s both read and write, way slower than the SSD it replaced (Some bursts of up to 1GB/s, but steadily 300MB/s when reading the whole drive). The same logs report the temperature at 41°C. Will be monitoring the situation, might be starting to die, and it is way soon for that.ORIGINAL: Not noticeably faster to the eye compared to the SSD it replaced, but love to see the IO graph when it is reading a few hundred of megabytes more than the SATA SSD.Using for dual booting Windows 10 (whole OS and apps) and Arch Linux (only OS files, /home at the old SSD), it is quick, and have a great price. In order to use the 6 SATA ports of my B350 motherboard, I explicitly required an NVME PCIE x2 (instead of the more easily available x4, otherwise 2 SATA ports would be disabled), so that was my main requirement, top speed was not a priority as, again, to the naked eye, SSD and NVME are the same to me at OS level, loading apps and so, while benchmarking them is another story and NVME wins across all categories, however, do you *USE* your computer? or just play benchmarks in it? Hehe, that's the point.
