Clean the Headlight You can use the Holts restoration kit while it is still on the car - you don't have to remove it. Start by washing and drying the headlight with a sponge and car shampoo. 2. Mask off the Area Once dry, mask off the headlight area by using masking tape. 3. Wet the surface Use water to wet the surface of the headlight - this is used in preparation for the wet sanding process. Always wet the headlight before sanding each time to prevent the headlight from burning. 4. Sand using P800 disc (included) Attach the P800 sanding disc to the spindle and begin sanding the headlight to remove scratches and oxidation. 5. Repeat Procedure for P1000, P1500, and P3000 Repeat the previous two stages but sanding with the P1000, then P1500, then P3000 sanding discs. Headlights are not made of glass, they are made of a type of extremely tough plastic (glass would shatter at the first sizeable gravel chip). Also, the underlying purpose of the Holts product is to allow owners to remove the yellow discolouration that occurs when transparent plastics of the type used on headlights are exposed to sunlight over a number of years. If your windscreen is hard to see through, it either needs to be washed using a powerful degreaser or similar product, or it is time to get it replaced! **Q: Can you use this on the rear lights..?** A: I believe so. Normally they are not so worn as the front headlights... but I do not see any issues **Q: Can you buy more disc pads for this** A: Not sure if you can although you can by the graded paper elsewhere and cut to fit yourself. I followed the instructions, apart from manually sanding, which I feel gives much better control and more even results. I used the drill and foam pad for the polishing and it worked great. Both lights looked like new when done with the coating applied. And there's still enough of everything left to do another car, so great value!
