I recharge mine on multi-day hikes with a 30k mAhr battery that I also use for my phone and Garmin. But that can all go wrong, so the AAA backup could be a life saver for almost no extra weight. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful headlight for the size and money *by H***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 June 2018* I go through these lights, giving them away if they're no good but sometimes just because they are so good. This is the second I've bought of this model. It's very very bright and the battery is unaffected by cold. It's light and simple, not as sophisticated as the Black Diamond headlights, but it's more powerful and cheaper and the battery - this really is key - is good and simple and works very well. My only reservation is that it is possible for the light to switch on by accident, I wish there were a better safety catch to prevent that. Black Diamond has the edge there.Edit: Several months later, this light is still going strong, has been used for cycling at night - very powerful indeed and better than bike lights as you never leave it on the bike.
